What have you done...?

I Samuel 13:11-14 NKJV

And Samuel said, “What have you done?” Saul said, “When I saw that the people were scattered from me, and that you did not come within the days appointed, and that the Philistines gathered together at Michmash, then I said, ‘The Philistines will now come down on me at Gilgal, and I have not made supplication to the Lord .’ Therefore I felt compelled, and offered a burnt offering.” And Samuel said to Saul, “You have done foolishly. You have not kept the commandment of the Lord your God, which He commanded you. For now the Lord would have established your kingdom over Israel forever. But now your kingdom shall not continue. The Lord has sought for Himself a man after His own heart, and the Lord has commanded him to  be commander over His people, because you have not kept what the Lord commanded you.”

******
† Shalom †......! Day #273. Do you know that when we are successful and at a higher status of our lives, we tend to do things which God prohibits us to do and we think it is a right thing to do so? Let us pray. Father, forgive us for we have disobeyed Your Word and commands. Forgive us for doing things that seems right in our eyes, but it is wrong In Your sight. We ask for Your grace and mercy Lord. In Jesus name we ask and pray, amen!

Friends,  Saul broke the order expressly given by Samuel, see 1 Samuel 10:8, as to what should be done in cases of extremity. Saul offered sacrifice without Samuel, and did it himself, though he was neither priest nor prophet. When charged with disobedience, he justified himself in what he had done, and gave no sign of repentance for it. He would have this act of disobedience pass for an instance of his prudence, and as a proof of his piety. Men destitute of inward piety, often lay great stress on the outward performances of religion. Samuel charges Saul with being an enemy to himself.

Those that disobey the commandments of God, do foolishly for themselves. Sin is folly, and the greatest sinners are the greatest fools. Our disposition to obey or disobey God, will often be proved by our behaviour in things which appear small. Men see nothing but Saul's outward act, which seems small; but God saw that he did this with unbelief and distrust of his providence, with contempt of his authority and justice, and with rebellion against the light of his own conscience.

Let this day be the day of the Lord!

Do not turn aside from following the Lord...!

I Samuel 12:20-24 NKJV

Then Samuel said to the people, “Do not fear. You have done all this wickedness; yet do not turn aside from following the Lord , but serve the Lord with all your heart. And do not turn aside; for then  you  would  go after empty things which cannot profit or deliver, for they are nothing. For the Lord will not forsake His people, for His great name’s sake, because it has pleased the Lord to make you His people. Moreover, as for me, far be it from me that I should sin against the Lord  in ceasing to pray for you; but I will teach you the good and the right way. Only fear the Lord , and serve Him in truth with all your heart; for consider what great things He has done for you.

******
† Shalom †......! Day #272. Do you know that God is giving us the opportunity to repent and return to God from all our wickedness and serve Him wholeheartedly? Let us pray. Father,  we pray that we would not take for granted the salvation which You have given to us as we repent and return You from all our wickedness and to serve and obey You. We pray that the Holy Spirit will convict us and bring us to our knees in repentance. In Jesus name we ask and pray, amen!

Friends, At Samuel's word, God sent thunder and rain, at a season of the year when, in that country, the like was not seen. This was to convince them they had done wickedly in asking a king; not only by its coming at an unusual time, in wheat harvest, and on a clear day, but by the prophet's giving notice of it before. He showed their folly in desiring a king to save them, rather than God, or Samuel; promising themselves more from an arm of flesh, than from the arm of God, or from the power of prayer. Could their prince command such forces as the prophet could do by his prayers? It startled them very much. Some will not be brought to see their sins by any gentler methods than storms and thunders. They entreat Samuel to pray for them. Now they see their need of him whom shortly before they slighted. Thus many who will not have Christ to reign over them, would yet be glad to have him intercede for them, to turn away the wrath of God. Samuel aims to confirm the people in their religion.

Whatever we make a god of, we shall find it deceive us. Creatures in their own places are good; but when put in God's place, they are vain things. We sin if we restrain prayer, and in particular if we cease praying for the church. They only asked him to pray for them; but he promises to do more, to teach them. He urges that they were bound in gratitude to serve God, considering what great things he had done for them; and that they were bound in interest to serve him, considering what he would do against them, if they should still do wickedly. Thus, as a faithful watchman, he gave them warning, and so delivered his own soul. If we consider what great things the Lord hath done for us, especially in the great work of redemption, we can neither want motive, encouragement, nor assistance in serving him.

Let this day be the day of the Lord!

They have rejected Me...!

I Samuel 8:7-9 NKJV

And the Lord said to Samuel, “Heed the voice of the people in all that they say to you; for they have not rejected you, but they have rejected Me, that I should not reign over them. According to all the works which they have done since the day that I brought them up out of Egypt, even to this day—with which they have forsaken Me and served other gods—so they are doing to you also. Now therefore, heed their voice. However, you shall solemnly forewarn them, and show them the behavior of the king who will reign over them.”

******
† SHALOM †......! Day #271. Do you know that people have rejected the True Living God, and they accepted man-made religion and gods? Let us pray. Father, forgive us for creating our own gods and religion. Forgive us for we have given into teachings that's soothing to our itching ears. Forgive us Lord, we repent of our sins. In Jesus name we ask and pray, amen!

And the Lord said unto Samuel,.... He appeared to him in a vision or dream, and by an articulate voice delivered to him what follows. Heed the voice of the people in all that they say to you not as approving of what they said, but permitting and allowing what they asked, as a punishment of them for their disloyalty and ingratitude, and as resenting their ill behaviour to him; for it was in anger he assented to their request, Hosea 13:11. For they have not rejected thee, but they have rejected me that I should not reign over them; most interpreters supply the word "only", as if the sense was, that they had not only rejected Samuel from judging them, but the Lord also from reigning over them; and which is spoken to comfort Samuel, and to alleviate the pressure on his mind for the ill treatment he had met with; for since they had served the Lord after this manner, it was no wonder he should be ill used, and might bear it with great patience: but I see no reason why the word may not be taken absolutely, that they had not rejected Samuel from all share in the government, at least from judging the people; for so he continued all the days of his life, even after they had a king over them; but they entirely rejected the sole and peculiar government of God over them.

According to all the works which they have done since the day that I brought them out of Egypt,.... This was no new thing; all that they had done since they were wonderfully favoured of God, as to be brought out of Egyptian bondage, was all of a piece with this; one continued series of ingratitude, of rebellion against God, and against his servants, that he employed under him, as Moses, Aaron. Even unto this day, wherewith they have forsaken me, and served other gods; this is what this people were always addicted to, to east off the worship and service of God, and go into idolatry. People rejected the True Living God and have given themselves to man-made religion and gods. You may think that you don't have other gods, let me tell you this, your sin becomes you "god" and you become slave to it. You success becomes your "god" until you worship it. You wealth and money becomes your "god" and you love it more. It's time for us to come back to the True and Living God!

Let this day be the day of the Lord!

If you return...

I Samuel 7:3 NKJV

Then Samuel spoke to all the house of Israel, saying, “If you return to the Lord with all your hearts, then  put away the foreign gods and the Ashtoreths from among you, and prepare your hearts for the Lord , and serve Him only; and He will deliver you from the hand of the Philistines.”

******
† Shalom †......! Day #270. Do you know that even when we have been born again, serving God, yet we still have thise "foreign gods" in us, around us? Let us pray. Father, remove all those "foreign gods" in us and around us. Remove every stumbling block that's hindering us to come to You Lord. In Jesus name we ask and pray, amen!

During this time the prophet Samuel laboured to revive true religion. The few words used are very expressive; and this was one of the most effectual revivals of religion which ever took place in Israel.

Samuel spake unto all the house of Israel—A great national reformation was effected through the influence of Samuel. Disgusted with their foreign servitude, and panting for the restoration of liberty and independence, they were open to salutary impressions; and convinced of their errors, they renounced idolatry. The re-establishment of the faith of their fathers was inaugurated at a great public meeting, held at Mizpeh in Judah, and hallowed by the observance of impressive religious solemnities. The drawing water, and pouring it out before the Lord, seems to have been a symbolical act by which, in the people's name, Samuel testified their sense of national corruption, their need of that moral purification of which water is the emblem, and their sincere desire to pour out their hearts in repentance before God.

Let this day be the day of the Lord!

Speak for Your servant hears....!

I Samuel 3:10 NKJV

Now the Lord came and stood and called as at other times, “Samuel! Samuel!” And Samuel answered, “Speak, for Your servant hears.”

******
† Shalom †......! Day #269. Do you know that we must be sensitive to the voice of God? Let us pray. Father, incline our hearts to You Lord. Give us an ear that's sensitive to Your voice so that we may not waver but  will act accordingly to Your Word and voice. In Jesus name we ask and pray, amen!

The call which Divine grace designs shall be made effectual; will be repeated till it is so, till we come to the call. Eli, perceiving that it was the voice of God that Samuel heard, instructed him what to say. Though it was a disgrace to Eli, for God's call to be directed to Samuel, yet he told him how to meet it. Thus the elder should do their utmost to assist and improve the younger that are rising up. Let us never fail to teach those who are coming after us, even such as will soon be preferred before us, Joh 1:30. Good words should be put into children's mouths betimes, by which they may be prepared to learn Divine things, and be trained up to regard them.

A peculiar generation...

I Samuel 2:35 NKJV

Then I will raise up for Myself a faithful priest who shall do according to what is in My heart and in My mind. I will build him a sure house, and he shall walk before My anointed forever.

******
† Shalom †......! Day #268. Do you know that the Lord is raising up a generation that  knows the Heartbeat of God? Let us pray. Father, we pray that You would raise up a faithful, a God fearing, obedient, Holy, courageous, strong, humble and a faceless generation to serve You and to do Your will on earth as it is in heaven. In Jesus name we ask and pray, amen!

And I will raise up a faithful priest,.... Not Samuel, as some, for he was not of the seed of Aaron, and of the priestly race; nor had he a sure house, for his sons declined from the ways of truth and justice; but Zadok, as it is commonly interpreted, who was put into the office of the high priest by Solomon when he came to the throne, in the room of Abiathar, of the line of Eli; who was an upright man, and faithfully discharged his office, and answered to his name, which signifies righteous, see Ezekiel 44:15 that shall do according to that which is in my heart, and in my mind: according to the secret will and pleasure of God, as revealed in his word; do everything relating to the office of an high priest, according to the laws of God respecting it; so the Targum,"that shall do according to my word, and according to my will:"

And  I will build him a sure house; which some understand of a numerous family and posterity he should have to succeed him, so that there should never be wanting one of his seed to fill up that high office; or rather it may design the establishment of the high priesthood in his family, which was an everlasting one, as promised to Phinehas his ancestor, and which continued unto the times of the Messiah, who put an end to it, by fulfilling it; unless it can be thought that this may refer to the temple built by Solomon, which was a firm house, in comparison of the tabernacle, which was a movable one; it was built for Zadok and his posterity, who was the first that officiated in it as a legal priest. There is one writer, who says (m),"this agrees with no man, only with our Lord Jesus, who is called our high priest, that offered up a sacrifice to the Father for us therefore to Christ properly this prophecy belongs; but, according to the history; to Zadok:''and Christ is said indeed to be a faithful, as well as a merciful high priest, faithful to him that appointed him, and faithful to those for whom he officiated; he always did the things which pleased his Father, was obedient to his will and commands in all respects; and a sure house is built by him, his church, against which the gates of hell can never prevail: however, the next clause is by others interpreted of him:

And  he shall walk before mine anointed for ever; or "before my Messiah", as the high priests did; they were types of Christ, and represented him, and acted under him, and in his stead, and prefigured and pointed at what he was to do, when he came in the flesh, and now does in the most holy place in heaven. Though it is more commonly understood of Zadok and his posterity, walking or ministering, as the Targum, before Solomon the Lord's anointed, and before the kings of the house of David, as they did until the Babylonish captivity.

Prayer out of an anguished heart...!

I Samuel 1:10-11 NKJV

And she was in bitterness of soul, and prayed to the Lord and wept in anguish. Then she made a vow and said, “O Lord of hosts, if You will indeed look on the affliction of Your maidservant and remember me, and not forget Your maidservant, but will give Your maidservant a male child, then I will give him to the Lord all the days of his life, and no razor shall come upon his head.”

******
† Shalom †......! Day #267. Do you know that unless and until you are tired of your situations, you can see a change or miracle? Let us pray. Father, give us a heart that would pray in no matter what situation we are in. Let us not just pray when every is ok. Lord give us a heart that intercedes for nations. In Jesus name we ask and pray, amen!

Hannah mingled tears with her prayers; she considered the mercy of our God, who knows the troubled soul. God gives us leave, in prayer, not only to ask good things in general, but to mention that special good thing we most need and desire. She spoke softly, none could hear her. Hereby she testified her belief of God's knowledge of the heart and its desires. Prayer is heart's ease to a gracious soul. Prayer will smooth the countenance; it should do so. None will long remain miserable, who use aright the privilege of going to the mercy-seat of a reconciled God in Christ Jesus.

Prayer for a change begins from an anguished heart.

Matthew 7:7-8  Keep Asking, Seeking, Knocking"Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.

Ask
- answer to prayer begins with a desire
- Prayer begins with a desperation
- Doa bukannya kalo tuhan mau sembuhkan dia sembuhkan lah, kalo dia tak nak, tak pa la....IT IS NOT OK!
- desire is a powerful force.
- Desire (keinginan)
- Until you are tired of a situation of your life, you cannot see change

Seeking (Hebrew: do it frequently)
- breakthrough comes when you keep pressing on frequently.
- Seeking through prayer you need stamina. A constant prayer. Never seeking until you have received what you want.
- Seeking is being consistent in prayer!
- The place of seeking is a place of waiting where got can change us and make us a new.

Knocking
- It's a place of spiritual warfare where you confront the power of darkness
- You need to be violent in prayer.
- When you pray you knock down every demonic powers, every strongholds,  every obstacles, every opposition, every spirit of unbelieve.

Let this day be the day of the Lord!

The Lord repay your work...!

Ruth 2:12-13 NKJV

The Lord repay your work, and a full reward be given you by the Lord God of Israel, under whose wings you have come for refuge.” Then she said, “Let me find favor in your sight, my Lord; for you have comforted me, and have spoken kindly to your maidservant, though I am not like one of your maidservants.”

******
† Shalom †......! Day #266. Do you know that the favor of God last for a lifetime? Let us pray. Father,  Your favor and Your grace Lord, last for a lifetime. Thank You Lord for Your love, grace, mercy and Your favor upon us. In Jesus name we ask and pray, amen!

Friends, The pious and kind language between Boaz and his reapers shows that there were godly persons in Israel. Such language as this is seldom heard in our field; too often, on the contrary, what is immoral and corrupt. A stranger would form a very different opinion of our land, from that which Ruth would form of Israel from the converse and conduct of Boaz and his reapers. But true religion will teach a man to behave aright in all states and conditions; it will form kind masters and faithful servants, and cause harmony in families. True religion will cause mutual love and kindness among persons of different ranks. It had these effects on Boaz and his men. When he came to them he prayed for them. They did not, as soon as he was out of hearing curse him, as some ill-natured servants that hate their master's eye, but they returned his courtesy. Things are likely to go on well where there is such good-will as this between masters and servants. They expressed their kindness to each other by praying one for another.

Boaz inquired concerning the stranger he saw, and ordered her to be well treated. Masters must take care, not only that they do no hurt themselves, but that they suffer not their servants and those under them to do wrong. Ruth humbly owned herself unworthy of favours, seeing she was born and brought up a heathen. It well becomes us all to think humbly of ourselves, esteeming others better than ourselves. And let us, in the kindness of Boaz to Ruth, note the kindness of the Lord Jesus Christ to poor sinners.

Are we faithful..?

Ruth 1:16-17 NKJV

But Ruth said: “Entreat me not to leave you, Or  to turn back from following after you; For wherever you go, I will go; And wherever you lodge, I will lodge; Your people shall  be my people, And your God, my God. Where you die, I will die, And there will I be buried. The Lord do so to me, and more also, If anything  but death parts you and me.”

******
† Shalom †......! Day #265. Do you faithfulness and loyalty is important as we follow the Lord? Let us pray. Father, we pray that as we follow You wholeheartedly, God, help us to be faithful and loyal to You. Let us not betray You. Let there be no anything that separates us from Your love Father. In Jesus name we ask and pray, amen!

Friends, See Ruth's resolution, and her good affection to Naomi. Orpah was loth to part from her; yet she did not love her well enough to leave Moab for her sake. Thus, many have a value and affection for Christ, yet come short of salvation by him, because they will not forsake other things for him. They love him, yet leave him, because they do not love him enough, but love other things better. Ruth is an example of the grace of God, inclining the soul to choose the better part. Naomi could desire no more than the solemn declaration Ruth made. See the power of resolution; it silences temptation. Those that go in religious ways without a stedfast mind, stand like a door half open, which invites a thief; but resolution shuts and bolts the door, resists the devil and forces him to flee.

If we say that we love God wholeheartedly, therefore prove it in action. Remain faithful and loyak to Him alone until our very last breath. Are we faithful and loyal to God? Let us examine ourselves. Just like the Psalmist said in Psalm 139:23  "Search me, O God, and know my heart; Try me, and know my anxieties;", let us allow the Holy Spirit of God to examine us. Let us be found faithful prove!

Let this day be the day of the Lord!

Have I not sent you...?

Judges 6:11-14 NKJV

Now the Angel of the Lord came and sat under the terebinth tree which was in Ophrah, which belonged to Joash the Abiezrite, while his son Gideon threshed wheat in the winepress, in order to hide it from the Midianites. And the Angel of the Lord appeared to him, and said to him, “The Lord  is  with you, you mighty man of valor!” Gideon said to Him, “O my Lord, if the Lord is with us, why then has all this happened to us? And where are all His miracles which our fathers told us about, saying, ‘Did not the Lord bring us up from Egypt?’ But now the Lord has forsaken us and delivered us into the hands of the Midianites.” Then the Lord turned to him and said, “Go in this might of yours, and you shall save Israel from the hand of the Midianites. Have I not sent you?”

******
† Shalom †......! Day #264. Do you know that the Lord has sent you to conquer the land which is before you? Let us pray. Father, continue to strengthen us as we conquer the land and bring back this generation to You once again. Thank You Lord. In Jesus name we ask and pray, amen!

Friends, Gideon was a man of a brave, active spirit, yet in obscurity through the times: he is here stirred up to undertake something great. It was very sure that the Lord was with him, when his Angel was with him. Gideon was weak in faith, which made it hard to reconcile the assurances of the presence of God with the distress to which Israel was brought. The Angel answered his objections. He told him to appear and act as Israel's deliverer, there needed no more. Bishop Hall says, While God calls Gideon valiant, he makes him so. God delights to advance the humble. Gideon desires to have his faith confirmed.

Have not I sent you? To  do this great work, save the people of Israel, from whence Gideon might perceive who it was that talked with him, and having a command and commission from God, had authority enough to go about this service.

This generation has forgotten...

Judges 2:10 NKJV

When all that generation had been gathered to their fathers, another generation arose after them who did not know the Lord nor the work which He had done for Israel.

******
† Shalom †......! Day #263. Do you know that the younger generation is not aware of what the Lord has done in the older generation? Let us pray.  Father, make known to us of Your great and mighty works in this generation. Let the news of Revival, Renewal, Refilling, Restoration and Repentance be made known to everyone. In Jesus name we ask and pray, amen!

We have a general idea of the course of things in Israel, during the time of the Judges. The nation made themselves as mean and miserable by forsaking God, as they would have been great and happy if they had continued faithful to him. Their punishment answered to the evil they had done. They served the gods of the nations round about them, even the meanest, and God made them serve the princes of the nations round about them, even the meanest. Those who have found God true to his promises, may be sure that he will be as true to his threatenings. He might in justice have abandoned them, but he could not for pity do it. The Lord was with the judges when he raised them up, and so they became saviours. In the days of the greatest distress of the church, there shall be some whom God will find or make fit to help it. The Israelites were not thoroughly reformed; so mad were they upon their idols, and so obstinately bent to backslide. Thus those who have forsaken the good ways of God, which they have once known and professed, commonly grow most daring and desperate in sin, and have their hearts hardened. Their punishment was, that the Canaanites were spared, and so they were beaten with their own rod. Men cherish and indulge their corrupt appetites and passions; therefore God justly leaves them to themselves, under the power of their sins, which will be their ruin.

God has told us how deceitful and desperately wicked our hearts are, but we are not willing to believe it, until by making bold with temptation we find it true by sad experience. We need to examine how matters stand with ourselves, and to pray without ceasing, that we may be rooted and grounded in love, and that Christ may dwell in our hearts by faith. Let us declare war against every sin, and follow after holiness all our days. God has done great and mighty things in the former generation, but the current generation living without knowing what the Lord has done for His people. People are living in sin just like Sodom and Gomorrah, people are rebellious towards God, people are indulging in their wicked ways and have left God aside. Folks, we must return to God again! We must know what the Lord has done! We must be awaken! Do you understand that?

Let this day be the day of the Lord!

Serve the Lord...

Joshua 24:14, 23 NKJV

“Now therefore, fear the Lord , serve Him in sincerity and in truth, and put away the gods which your fathers served on the other side of the River and in Egypt. Serve the Lord ! “Now therefore,” he  said,  “put away the foreign gods which are among you, and incline your heart to the Lord God of Israel.”

******
† Shalom †......! Day #262. Do you know that we must serve Him in sincerity and in truth? Let us pray. Father, give us a heart that's wholly after You. To serve You and to  do Your will as long as we live. Thank You Lord.  In Jesus name we ask and pray, amen...!

Friends, We must never think our work for God done, till our life is done. If he lengthen out our days beyond what we expected, like those of Joshua, it is because he has some further service for us to do. He who aims at the same mind which was in Christ Jesus, will glory in bearing the last testimony to his Saviour's goodness, and in telling to all around, the obligations with which the unmerited goodness of God has bound him. The assembly came together in a solemn religious manner. Joshua spake to them in God's name, and as from him. His sermon consists of doctrine and application. The doctrinal part is a history of the great things God had done for his people, and for their fathers before them. The application of this history of God's mercies to them, is an exhortation to fear and serve God, in gratitude for his favour, and that it might be continued.

It is essential that the service of God's people be performed with a willing mind. For LOVE is the only genuine principle whence all acceptable service of God can spring. The Father seeks only such to worship him, as worship him in spirit and in truth. The carnal mind of man is enmity against God, therefore, is not capable of such spiritual worship. Hence the necessity of being born again. But numbers rest in mere forms, as tasks imposed upon them. Joshua puts them to their choice; but not as if it were indifferent whether they served God or not. Choose you whom ye will serve, now the matter is laid plainly before you. He resolves to do this, whatever others did. Those that are bound for heaven, must be willing to swim against the stream. They must not do as the most do, but as the best do. And no one can behave himself as he ought in any station, who does not deeply consider his religious duties in family relations. The Israelites agree with Joshua, being influenced by the example of a man who had been so great a blessing to them; We also will serve the Lord. See how much good great men do, by their influence, if zealous in religion. Joshua brings them to express full purpose of heart to cleave to the Lord. They must come off from all confidence in their own sufficiency, else their purposes would be in vain. The service of God being made their deliberate choice, Joshua binds them to it by a solemn covenant. He set up a monument of it. In this affecting manner Joshua took his last leave of them; if they perished, their blood would be upon their own heads. Though the house of God, the Lord's table, and even the walls and trees before which we have uttered our solemn purposes of serving him, would bear witness against us if we deny him, yet we may trust in him, that he will put his fear into our hearts, that we shall not depart from him. God alone can give grace, yet he blesses our endeavours to engage men to his service.

Let this day be the day of the Lord!

One against a thousand...!

Joshua 23:9-10 NKJV

For the Lord has driven out from before you great and strong nations; but as  for you, no one has been able to stand against you to this day. One man of you shall chase a thousand, for the Lord your God is He who fights for you, as He promised you.

******
† Shalom †......! Day #261. Do you know that one man of you shall chase a thousand? Let us pray. Father, thank You for Your divine interventions in our lives. It is because of You Lord that we are strong. It's not because of our power and might that we are able to walk this life, but by Your Spirit that's at work in us which gives us the victory. Thank You Lord. In Jesus name we ask and pray, amen!

Friends, For the Lord hath driven out before you great nations and strong,.... Especially as they were reckoned in those times, before any great monarchies had existed, as did afterwards; and indeed these were, considering the land they inhabited, very numerous and populous, and were very stout and able bodied men, and some of a gigantic stature; and all dwelt in strong fortified cities, and were able to bring out large armies into the field, with chariots of iron, so that they were very formidable; but notwithstanding all this, the Lord drove them out of their strong holds, and put Israel into the possession of them, and of their land. But  as for you, no man hath been able to stand before you unto this day; that is, of those that came out against them, and fought with them; these were all to a man cut off by them, or fled before them, and became tributaries to them; otherwise there were many, who as yet were not expelled by them; this the Lord had promised, and now had fulfilled, Deuteronomy 11:25.

It is the Lord who battles for you. Zechariah 4:6  So he answered and said to me: " This [is] the word of the LORD to Zerubbabel: ' Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit, ' Says the LORD of hosts. It is the Lord who drives out all of our enemies away from us. Hallelujah 🙌!

Let this day be the day of the Lord!

The altar of destruction...!

Joshua 22:16 NKJV

“Thus says the whole congregation of the Lord : ‘What treachery is this that you have committed against the God of Israel, to turn away this day from following the Lord , in that you have built for yourselves an altar, that you might rebel this day against the Lord ?

******
† Shalom †......! Day #260. Do you know we build our so called "own altar"? Let us pray.  Father,  forgive us for we have rebelled against You, by building an altar for ourselves. Instead of trusting and relying on You, we have trusted in a lie and turned away from following You wholeheartedly. Forgive us Lord. We commit ourselves once again to You. In Jesus name we ask and pray, amen!

Friends,  unknowingly We build our own altar. Altar of pride. Altar of success. Altar wealth and so on. We begin to rely upon our own ways and we turn away from following God wholeheartedly. We become the worshippers of our own success, pride, wealth and so on. We come to a stage where we think we don't need a God. Yet, we forget that it was God who gave us everything. It was an act of ingratitude towards the God who had established them in the good land in which they now found themselves. Such ingratitude and desertion of God was equivalent to rebellion, the term used immediately afterwards. The embassy clearly assumed that the fault had been committed, and that it would be necessary to proceed to extremities. Yet, deeply moved as they were, they did not refuse to listen to reason, and rejoiced that it was not necessary to inflict the fearful vengeance which otherwise would have been their duty. How great a contrast is this to the readiness, nay, even the eagerness, which many owning the Christian name have displayed to destroy the body, and the soul also, if that were possible, of their brethren in Christ, who have been overtaken, or have been supposed to be overtaken, in a similar fault!

Here is the care of the separated tribes to keep their hold of Canaan's religion. At first sight it seemed a design to set up an altar against the altar at Shiloh. God is jealous for his own institutions; we should be so too, and afraid of every thing that looks like, or leads to idolatry. Corruptions in religion are best dealt with at first. But their prudence in following up this zealous resolution is no less commendable. Many an unhappy strife would be prevented, or soon made up, by inquiries into the matter of the offence. The remembrance of great sins committed formerly, should engage us to stand on our guard against the beginnings of sin; for the way of sin is down-hill. We are all concerned to reprove our neighbour when he does amiss, lest we suffer sin upon him, Le 19:17. The offer made that they should be welcome to come to the land where the Lord's tabernacle was, and settle there, was in the spirit of true Israelites.

Let this day be the day of the Lord!

His Word will never fail...

Joshua 21:43-45 NKJV

So the Lord gave to Israel all the land of which He had sworn to give to their fathers, and they took possession of it and dwelt in it. The Lord gave them rest all around, according to all that He had sworn to their fathers. And not a man of all their enemies stood against them; the Lord delivered all their enemies into their hand. Not a word failed of any good thing which the Lord had spoken to the house of Israel. All came to pass.

******
† Shalom †......! Day #259. Do you know that not a word which the Lord has spoken will fail and He will not withheld any good thing? Let us pray. Father, we thank You for Your promises, faithfulness, grace, mercy and Your love towards us. We thank You Lord for Your promises are Yes and Amen.  In Jesus name we ask and pray, amen!

Friends, God promised to give to the seed of Abraham the land of Canaan for a possession, and now they possessed it, and dwelt therein. And the promise of the heavenly Canaan is as sure to all God's spiritual Israel; for it is the promise of Him that cannot lie. There stood not a man before them. The after-prevalence of the Canaanites was the effect of Israel's slothfulness, and the punishment of their sinful inclination to the idolatries and abominations of the heathen whom they harboured and indulged. There failed not aught of any good thing, which the Lord had spoken to the house of Israel. In due season all his promises will be accomplished; then will his people acknowledge that the Lord has exceeded their largest expectations, and made them more than conquerors, and brought them to their desired rest.

There failed not ought of any good thing,.... Not only every good thing in general, but every part and particular of that good thing; that, with all that was included in it, or were appendages to it, or circumstances of it: which the Lord had spoken to the house of Israel; as of their deliverance out of Egypt, and passage through the Red sea and wilderness, with all conveniences for them therein; so of their passage through Jordan, success of their arms, the conquest of their enemies, possession of their land, a land flowing with milk and honey.

All came to pass; exactly, precisely, and punctually, even everything relative to their temporal and spiritual good: so all that God promises to his spiritual Israel, with respect to their present comfort or everlasting happiness, all is exactly fulfilled, all his promises in Christ are yea and amen.

Let this day be the day of the Lord!

Give me this mountain...!

Joshua 14:10-12 NKJV

And now, behold, the Lord has kept me alive, as He said, these forty-five years, ever since the Lord spoke this word to Moses while Israel wandered in the wilderness; and now, here I am this day, eighty-five years old. As yet I am  as strong this day as on the day that Moses sent me; just as my strength was then, so now is my strength for war, both for going out and for coming in. Now therefore, give me this mountain of which the Lord spoke in that day; for you heard in that day how the Anakim were there, and that the cities were great and fortified. It may be that the Lord  will  be with me, and I shall be able to drive them out as the Lord said.”

******
† Shalom †......! Day #258. Do you know that a man with a different spirit will do the things people cannot do, think not as how people would think, speak not as how people do speak. They do things differently? Let us pray. Father,  let us not look at every obstacles as obstacles, but looking at it as an opportunity to see Your glory and marvelous works. In Jesus name we ask and pray, amen!

Friends, Caleb's request is, Give me this mountain, or Hebron, because it was formerly in God's promise to him, and he would let Israel knows how much he valued the promise. Those who live by faith value that which is given by God's promise, far above what is given by his providence only. It was now in the Anakims' possession, and Caleb would let Israel know how little he feared the enemy, and that he would encourage them to push on their conquests. Caleb answered to his name, which signifies all heart. Hebron was settled on Caleb and his heirs, because he wholly followed the Lord God of Israel. Happy are we if we follow him. Singular piety shall be crowned with singular favour.

As yet am I as strong this day. A vigorous and respected old age is ordinarily, by Nature's own law, the decreed reward for a virtuous youth and a temperate manhood. Caleb's devotion to God's service had preserved him from the sins as well as from the faithlessness and murmuring of the Israelites. And thus, with a body not enfeebled by indulgence, he presents himself before Joshua with undiminished strength, at a time when most men are sinking under the weight of their infirmities, and is ready still for battle with the most formidable foes.

Let this day be the day of the Lord!

The sun stood still...!

Joshua 10:12-13 NKJV

Then Joshua spoke to the Lord in the day when the Lord delivered up the Amorites before the children of Israel, and he said in the sight of Israel: “Sun, stand still over Gibeon; And Moon, in the Valley of Aijalon.” So the sun stood still, And the moon stopped, Till the people had revenge Upon their enemies. Is this not written in the Book of Jasher? So the sun stood still in the midst of heaven, and did not hasten to go down for about a whole day. And there has been no day like that, before it or after it, that the Lord heeded the voice of a man; for the Lord fought for Israel.

******
† Shalom †......! Day #257. Do you know that when the Lord fights for you, even the whole universe listens to His commands? Let us pray. Father, Your divine involvement in every battle we face, we are assured that You are the one who fights for us, not by our might nor power, but by Your Spirit O Lord. We thank You Lord. In Jesus name we ask and pray, amen!

Friends, The meanest and most feeble, who have just begun to trust the Lord, are as much entitled to be protected as those who have long and faithfully been his servants. It is our duty to defend the afflicted, who, like the Gibeonites, are brought into trouble on our account, or for the sake of the gospel. Joshua would not forsake his new vassals. How much less shall our true Joshua fail those who trust in Him! We may be wanting in our trust, but our trust never can want success. Yet God's promises are not to slacken and do away, but to quicken and encourage our endeavours. Notice the great faith of Joshua, and the power of God answering it by the miraculous staying of the sun, that the day of Israel's victories might be made longer. Joshua acted on this occasion by impulse on his mind from the Spirit of God.

It was not necessary that Joshua should speak, or the miracle be recorded, according to the modern terms of astronomy. The sun appeared to the Israelites over Gibeon, and the moon over the valley of Ajalon, and there they appeared to be stopped on their course for one whole day. Is any thing too hard for the Lord? forms a sufficient answer to ten thousand difficulties, which objectors have in every age started against the truth of God as revealed in his written word. Proclamation was hereby made to the neighbouring nations, Behold the works of the Lord, and say, What nation is there so great as Israel, who has God so nigh unto them?

Let this day be the day of the Lord!

The walls came down...!

Joshua 6:20 NKJV

So the people shouted when the  priests blew the trumpets. And it happened when the people heard the sound of the trumpet, and the people shouted with a great shout, that the wall fell down flat. Then the people went up into the city, every man straight before him, and they took the city.

******
† Shalom †......! Day #256. Do you know that thus is the day of your victory? Let us pray.  Father, let the shouts of victory and joy be filled in our spiritual atmosphere as we take possession of everything the devil has stolen from us! Hallelujah 🙌! Thank You Lord. In Jesus name we ask and pray, amen!

Friends, every victory comes with a price. The price we pay for our victory is obedience to God. Israel obeyed the commands of God to be silent for the 6 circles, and the final 7th circle they shouted with victory. The shouts of victory wasn't just a normal shout, but a shout that brought down the walls of Jericho. What walls are you facing today?

It's time for you to bring down the wall in your life to see a breakthrough. Shout loud... The roar of the lion. Obedience is the key for victory and breakthrough.

Let this day be the day of the Lord!

The Lord's side....

Joshua 5:13-15 NKJV

And it came to pass, when Joshua was by Jericho, that he lifted his eyes and looked, and behold, a Man stood opposite him with His sword drawn in His hand. And Joshua went to Him and said to Him, “ Are You for us or for our adversaries?” So He said, “No, but as Commander of the army of the Lord I have now come.” And Joshua fell on his face to the earth and worshiped, and said to Him, “What does my Lord say to His servant?” Then the Commander of the Lord ’s army said to Joshua, “Take your sandal off your foot, for the place where you stand is holy.” And Joshua did so.

******
† Shalom †......! Day 255. Do you know on who's side are you with today? Let us pray. Father, we want to be on Your side Lord. When You are for us, when You are with us who can be against us Lord? No weapons that's been formed against us shall prosper. Hallelujah 🙌! In Jesus name we ask and pray, amen!

Friends, We read not of any appearance of God's glory to Joshua till now. There appeared to him one as a man to be noticed. This Man was the Son of God, the eternal Word. Joshua gave him Divine honours: he received them, which a created angel would not have done, and he is called Jehovah, chap. 6:2. To Abraham he appeared as a traveller; to Joshua as a man of war. Christ will be to his people what their faith needs. Christ had his sword drawn, which encouraged Joshua to carry on the war with vigour. Christ's sword drawn in his hand, denotes how ready he is for the defence and salvation of his people. His sword turns every way. Joshua will know whether he is a friend or a foe. The cause between the Israelites and Canaanites, between Christ and Beelzebub, will not admit of any man's refusing to take one part or the other, as he may do in worldly contests. Joshua's inquiry shows an earnest desire to know the will of Christ, and a cheerful readiness and resolution to do it. All true Christians must fight under Christ's banner, and they will conquer by his presence and assistance.

Sanctify yourselves...!

Joshua 3:5 NKJV

And Joshua said to the people, “Sanctify yourselves, for tomorrow the Lord will do wonders among you.”

******
† Shalom †......! Day #254. Do you know that God requires holiness from us for He is holy? Let us pray.  Father, Your Word says "be holy for I am Holy," therefore Lord,  forgive us for many times we have failed You in one way or another. Lead us to Your holiness Lord, so that we will continue to witness of Your great and mighty works in the midst of us. In Jesus name we ask and pray, amen!

Friends, The Israelites came to Jordan in faith, having been told that they should pass it. In the way of duty, let us proceed as far as we can, and depend on the Lord. Joshua led them. Particular notice is taken of his early rising, as afterwards upon other occasions, which shows how little he sought his own ease. Those who would bring great things to pass, must rise early. Love not sleep, lest thou come to poverty. All in public stations should always attend to the duty of their place. The people were to follow the ark. Thus must we walk after the rule of the word, and the direction of the Spirit, in everything; so shall peace be upon us as upon the Israel of God; but we must follow our ministers only as they follow Christ. All their way through the wilderness was an untrodden path, but most so this through Jordan. While we are here, we must expect and prepare to pass ways that we have not passed before; but in the path of duty we may proceed with boldness and cheerfulness. Whether we are called to suffer poverty, pain, labour, persecution, reproach, or death, we are following the Author and Finisher of our faith; nor can we set our feet in any dangerous or difficult spot, through our whole journey, but faith will there see the prints of the Redeemer's feet, who trod that very path to glory above, and bids us follow him, that where he is, we may be also.

Sanctify yourselves, both in soul and body, that you may be meet to receive such a favour, and with more attention and reverence observe and ponder this great work, and fix it in your hearts and memories. They were to sanctify themselves. Would we experience the effects of God's love and power, we must put away sin, and be careful not to grieve the Holy Spirit of God.

Let this day be the day of the Lord!

Shall not depart...!

Joshua 1:8-9 NKJV

This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success. Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

******
† Shalom †......! Day #253. Do you know that you shall meditate the Word of God day and night so that everything may be well with you? Let us pray.  Father, let Your Holy Spirit teach us Your ways and Your Word to us as we walk with You. In Jesus name we ask and pray, amen!

Friends, Joshua is to make the law of God his rule. He is charged to meditate therein day and night, that he might understand it. Whatever affairs of this world we have to mind, we must not neglect the one thing needful. All his orders to the people, and his judgments, must be according to the law of God. Joshua must himself be under command; no man's dignity or dominion sets him above the law of God. He is to encourage himself with the promise and presence of God. Let not the sense of thine own infirmities dishearten thee; God is all-sufficient. I have commanded, called, and commissioned thee to do it, and will be sure to bear thee out in it. When we are in the way of duty, we have reason to be strong and very bold. Our Lord Jesus, as Joshua here, was borne up under his sufferings by a regard to the will of God, and the commandment from his Father.

Be strong...!

Deuteronomy 31:7-8 NKJV

Then Moses called Joshua and said to him in the sight of all Israel, “Be strong and of good courage, for you must go with this people to the land which the Lord has sworn to their fathers to give them, and you shall cause them to inherit it. And the Lord , He is the One who goes before you. He will be with you, He will not leave you nor forsake you; do not fear nor be dismayed.”

******
† Shalom †......! Day #252. Do you know that in any situation of your life, God goes before you to settle for you IF you are willing to trust God for a miracle? Let us pray. Father, You have always been right beside us, walking with us in every situation and through it all we will trust You. Thank You Lord. In Jesus name we ask and pray, amen!

Friends, Moses assures Israel of the constant presence of God with them. This is applied by the apostle to all God's spiritual Israel, to encourage their faith and hope; unto us is this gospel preached, as well as unto them; he will never fail thee, nor forsake thee, Heb 13:5. Moses commends Joshua to them for a leader; one whose wisdom, and courage, and affection they had long known; one whom God had appointed to be their leader; and therefore would own and bless. Joshua is well pleased to be admonished by Moses to be strong and of good courage. Those shall speed well, who have God with them; therefore they ought to be of good courage. Through God let us do valiantly, for through him we shall do victoriously; if we resist the devil, he will flee from us.

Let this day be the day of the Lord!

The Word is very near to you...!

Deuteronomy 30:14-20 NKJV

But the word is very near you, in your mouth and in your heart, that you may do it. “See, I have set before you today life and good, death and evil, in that I command you today to love the Lord your God, to walk in His ways, and to keep His commandments, His statutes, and His judgments, that you may live and multiply; and the Lord your God will bless you in the land which you go to possess. But if your heart turns away so that you do not hear, and are drawn away, and worship other gods and serve them, I announce to you today that you shall surely perish; you shall not prolong your days in the land which you cross over the Jordan to go in and possess. I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that  I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live; that you may love the Lord your God, that you may obey His voice, and that you may cling to Him, for He is your life and the length of your days; and that you may dwell in the land which the Lord swore to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, to give them.”

******
† Shalom †......! Day #251. Do you know that the Word of God is near to you? Let us pray. Father we pray that day and night we will meditate on Your Word. Let not Your Word depart from us, but as we dig deeper into Your Word, let us be established and be rooted on Your Word. Your Word is a light unto our path. In Jesus name we ask and pray, amen!

Friends, the law is not too high for you. It is not only known afar off; it is not confined to men of learning. It is written in thy books, made plain, so that he who runs may read it. It is in thy mouth, in the tongue commonly used by thee, in which thou mayest hear it read, and talk of it among thy children. It is delivered so that it is level to the understanding of the meanest. This is especially true of the gospel of Christ, to which the apostle applies it. But the word is nigh us, and Christ in that word; so that if we believe with the heart, that the promises of the Messiah are fulfilled in our Lord Jesus, and confess them with our mouth, we then have Christ with us.

What could be said more moving, and more likely to make deep and lasting impressions? Every man wishes to obtain life and good, and to escape death and evil; he desires happiness, and dreads misery. So great is the compassion of the Lord, that he has favoured men, by his word, with such a knowledge of good and evil as will make them for ever happy, if it be not their own fault. Let us hear the sum of the whole matter. If they and theirs would love God, and serve him, they should live and be happy. If they or theirs should turn from God, desert his service, and worship other gods, that would certainly be their ruin. There never was, since the fall of man, more than one way to heaven; which is marked out in both Testaments, though not with equal clearness. Moses meant that same way of acceptance, which Paul more plainly described; and Paul's words mean the same obedience, on which Moses more fully treated. In both Testaments the good and right way is brought near, and plainly revealed to us.

He may establish you...!

Deuteronomy 29:13 NKJV

that He may establish you today as a people for Himself, and that He may be God to you, just as He has spoken to you, and just as He has sworn to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.

******
† Shalom †......! Day #250. Do you know that God will establish you as He has promised to you? Let us pray. Father, Your promises are Yes  and Amen, last for a lifetime. Everything of which You have spoken, it all came to pass. Let Your Word be our guide and firm foundation. In Jesus name we ask and pray, amen!

Friends, The national covenant made with Israel, not only typified the covenant of grace made with true believers, but also represented the outward dispensation of the gospel. Those who have been enabled to consent to the Lord's new covenant of mercy and grace in Jesus Christ, and to give up themselves to be his people, should embrace every opportunity of renewing their open profession of relation to him, and their obligation to him, as the God of salvation, walking according thereto. The sinner is described as one whose heart turns away from his God; there the mischief begins, in the evil heart of unbelief, which inclines men to depart from the living God to dead idols.

Even to this sin men are now tempted, when drawn aside by their own lusts and fancies. Such men are roots that bear gall and wormwood. They are weeds which, if let alone, overspread the whole field. Satan may for a time disguise this bitter morsel, so that thou shalt not have the natural taste of it, but at the last day, if not before, the true taste shall be discerned. Notice the sinner's security in sin. Though he hears the words of the curse, yet even then he thinks himself safe from the wrath of God. There is scarcely a threatening in all the book of God more dreadful than this. Oh that presumptuous sinners would read it, and tremble! for it is a real declaration of the wrath of God, against ungodliness and unrighteousness of man.

Let this day be the day of the Lord!

“Now it shall come to pass, if you diligently obey the voice of the Lord your God, to observe carefully all His commandments which I command you today, that the Lord your God will set you high above all nations of the earth. And all these blessings shall come upon you and overtake you, because you obey the voice of the Lord your God:

Friends, This chapter is a very large exposition of two words, the blessing and the curse. They are real things and have real effects. The blessings are here put before the curses. God is slow to anger, but swift to show mercy. It is his delight to bless. It is better that we should be drawn to what is good by a child-like hope of God's favour, than that we be frightened to it by a slavish fear of his wrath. The blessing is promised, upon condition that they diligently hearken to the voice of God. Let them keep up religion, the form and power of it, in their families and nation, then the providence of God would prosper all their outward concerns.

The blessings of God comes with our obedience to God. Israel rebelled against God and they wandered in the desert for 40 years. They disobeyed God and His statutes and God withheld the blessings. But when Joshua lead the new generation of Israel, Joshua started to lead them with saying Joshua 1:8  This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success. Hallelujah 🙌 🔥! Amen! Blessings comes with a price, OBEDIENCE IS THE PRICE we must pay. Jesus said in Matthew 6:33  But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

1. Obedience is seeking the Lord!
2. Obedience is worshipping God.
3. Obedience is following God wholeheartedly.
4. Obedience is doing His will.
5. Obedience is not grumbling and complaining against God.

God is asking obedience from us. Are we willing to obey God?

Let this day be the day of the Lord!

He will set you high above all...!

Deuteronomy 26:16-19 NKJV

“This day the Lord your God commands you to observe these statutes and judgments; therefore you shall be careful to observe them with all your heart and with all your soul. Today you have proclaimed the Lord to be your God, and that you will walk in His ways and keep His statutes, His commandments, and His judgments, and that you will obey His voice. Also today the Lord has proclaimed you to be His special people, just as He promised you, that you should keep all His commandments, and that He will set you high above all nations which He has made, in praise, in name, and in honor, and that you may be a holy people to the Lord your God, just as He has spoken.”

******
† Shalom †......! Day #248. Do you know that you are God's special people? Let us pray. Father,  thank You for choosing us to be Your special people. Holy Spirit help us to walk in the statutes of God. In Jesus name we ask and pray, amen!

Friends, Moses here enforces the precepts. They are God's laws, therefore thou shalt do them, to that end were they given thee; do them, and dispute them not; do them, and draw not back; do them, not carelessly and hypocritically, but with thy heart and soul, thy whole heart and thy whole soul. We forswear ourselves, and break the most sacred engagement, if, when we have taken the Lord to be our God, we do not make conscience of obeying his commands. We are elected to obedience, 1Pe 1:2; chosen that we should be holy, Eph 1:4; purified a peculiar people, that we might not only do good works, but be zealous in them, Tit 2:14. Holiness is true honour, and the only way to everlasting honour.

It is written, Righteousness exalteth a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people, Pro 14:34. While Israel regarded God’ s word and kept his testimonies, they were the greatest and most respectable of all nations; but when they forsook God and his law, they became the most contemptible. O Britain, even more highly favored than ancient Israel! learn wisdom by what they have suffered. It is not thy fleets nor thine armies, howsoever excellent and well appointed, that can ultimately exalt and secure thy permanence among the nations. It is righteousness alone. Become irreligious, neglect God’ s ordinances, profane his Sabbath, despise his word, persecute his followers, and thou art lost. But fear, love, and serve him, and thy enemies shall be found liars, thou shalt defeat their projects, and trample on their high places
The form of confession when bringing the first-fruits, related Deu 26:4-10, is both affecting and edifying. Even when brought into a state of affluence and rest, they were commanded to remember and publicly acknowledge their former degradation and wretchedness, that they might be ever kept humble and dependent; and they must bring their offering as a public acknowledgment to God that it was by his mercy their state was changed, and by his bounty their comforts were continued. If a man rise from poverty to affluence, and forget his former state, he becomes proud, insolent, and oppressive. If a Christian convert forget his former state, the rock whence he was hewn, and the hole of the pit whence he was digged, he soon becomes careless, unthankful, and unholy. The case of the ten lepers that were cleansed, of whom only one returned to give God thanks, is an awful lesson. How many are continually living on the bounty of God, who feel no gratitude for his mercies! Friends, Is this your state? If so, then expect the just God to curse your blessings.

Let this day be the day of the Lord!

Your camp shall be holy...!

Deuteronomy 23:14 NKJV

For the Lord your God walks in the midst of your camp, to deliver you and give your enemies over to you; therefore your camp shall be holy, that He may see no unclean thing among you, and turn away from you.

******
† Shalom †......! Day #247. Do you know that God is holy and we must be holy as well? Let us pray. Father, Your Word says that "be holy for I am Holy." Let not walk in our wickedness but walk in holiness and righteousness before You. Holy Spirit, continue to lead us into the right path as we walk with and let us not stray away. In Jesus name we ask and pray, amen!

Friends, the camp of the Lord must have nothing offensive in it. If there must be this care taken to preserve the body clean, much more should we be careful to keep the mind pure.

For the Lord your God walks in the midst of you camp,.... In the tabernacle, which moved when the host marched after the camps of Judah and Reuben, and before those of Ephraim and Dan, in the midst of them: this was the position of it while in the wilderness, and afterwards when they came into the land of Canaan, and went to war with their enemies, the ark sometimes went with them, the symbol of the divine Presence; and here it is made a reason why they should avoid all uncleanness, since the holy God, or that token of his, presence, was in the midst of them:

to deliver you and give your enemies over to you: to save them from falling into the hands of their enemies, and to deliver their enemies into their hands, which depended not upon their numbers, strength, and skill, but on the Presence, providence, and power of God with them; wherefore, as the above writer (t) observes, by these actions (of purity and cleanliness) God meant to confirm the faith of those that engaged in war, that the divine Majesty dwelt among them; for which reason such orders were strictly to be observed by them:

therefore shall thy camp be holy; both in a moral and ceremonial sense:

that he see no unclean thing in thee; whether natural, moral, or ceremonial; the word here used signifies such nakedness as is forbidden to be uncovered, Leviticus 18:6. Hence Maimonides (u) applies it to whoredom; for he says,"by this phrase God meant to deter and dehort from whoredom, which is too usual and common among soldiers, as long as they are absent from their own houses; that therefore we may be delivered and abstain from those impure works, God has commanded such things to be done, which may bring to our remembrance that his glory dwells in the midst of us:"

and turn away from thee; and so they fall into the hands of their enemies, and become an easy prey to them, their God having forsaken them; and that this might not be their case, care should be taken not to offend him, and cause him to depart from them.

Let this day be the day of the Lord!

Keep all His commandments...!

Deuteronomy 13:17-18 NKJV

So none of the accursed things shall remain in your hand, that the Lord may turn from the fierceness of His anger and show you mercy, have compassion on you and multiply you, just as He swore to your fathers, because you have listened to the voice of the Lord your God, to keep all His commandments which I command you today, to do what  is right in the eyes of the Lord your God.

******
† Shalom †......! Day #246. Do you know that obedience is the key for us to do what is right in the eyes of God? Let us pray. Father, give us a clean hands, create in us a pure heart and a right Spirit within us. Cast us not away from Your presence and take not Your Holy Spirit from us. Restore unto us the joy of salvation. In Jesus name we ask and pray, amen!

Friends, Here is the case of a city revolting from the God of Israel, and serving other gods. The crime is supposed to be committed by one of the cities of Israel. Even when they were ordered to preserve their religion by force, yet they were not allowed to bring others to it by fire and sword. Spiritual judgments under the Christian dispensation are more terrible than the execution of criminals; we have not less cause than the Israelites had, to fear the Divine wrath.

Let us then fear the spiritual idolatry of covetousness, and the love of worldly pleasure; and be careful not to countenance them in our families, by our example or by the education of our children. May the Lord write his law and truth in our hearts, there set up his throne, and shed abroad his love!

Let this day be the day of the Lord!

When you obey God...!

Deuteronomy 11:24-25 NKJV

Every place on which the sole of your foot treads shall be yours: from the wilderness and Lebanon, from the river, the River Euphrates, even to the Western Sea, shall be your territory. No man shall be able to stand against you; the Lord your God will put the dread of you and the fear of you upon all the land where you tread, just as He has said to you.

******
† Shalom †......! Day #245. Do you know that every place your foot treads shall be yours? Let us pray.  Father, give us an obedient heart so that we would not be a rebellious generation. With You Lord, we are able to conquer and fight against our enemies, but without You Lord, we are defeated. Thank You Lord for Your promises. In Jesus name we ask and pray, amen!

Friends,  The sense is: "Keep the covenant faithfully, and so shall your own and your children's days be multiplied as long as the heaven covers the earth." The promise of Canaan to Israel was thus a perpetual promise, but also a conditional one. The condition is BEING OBEDIENT TO GOD.

The Bible says that "if our God is for us, who can be against us" this only happens when we are obedient to God. Be an obedient followers of Christ and not a rebellious one. Israel rebelled against God, and they wandered in the desert for 40 years. You can be serving God today but at the same time being rebellious. Meaning to say that we aren't willing to follow His ways, but we want to serve God and do it according to our ways. God says "no", but we still pursue it. That's a rebellious spirit.

Let this day be the day of the Lord!

Circumcise the foreskin of your heart...!

Deuteronomy 10:16-17 NKJV

Therefore circumcise the foreskin of your heart, and be stiff-necked no longer. For the Lord your God is  God of gods and Lord of Lords, the great God, mighty and awesome, who shows no partiality nor takes a bribe.

******
† Shalom †......! Day #244. Do you know that we can be following God, but at the same time being so stubborn and stiff-necked? Let us pray. Father,  forgive us for our stubbornness and being stiff-necked. Lead us to the Cross where Your Love poured out. Bring us to our knees Lord, Iwe lay us down and rid us of ourselves we belong to You. Lead us to Your heart Lord. In Jesus name we ask and pray, amen!

Friends, We are here taught our duty to God in our principles and our practices. We must fear the Lord our God. We must love him, and delight in communion with Him. We must walk in the ways in which He  has appointed us to walk. We must serve Him  with all our heart and soul. What we do in His service we must do cheerfully, and with good will. We must keep his commandments. There is true honour and pleasure in obedience. We must give honour to God; and to Him  we must cleave, as one we love and delight in, trust in, and from whom we have great expectations. We are here taught our duty to our neighbour. God's common gifts to mankind oblige us to honour all men. And those who have themselves been in distress, and have found mercy with God, should be ready to show kindness to those who are in the like distress. We are here taught our duty to ourselves.

Circumcise your hearts. Cast away all corrupt affections and inclinations, which hinder you from fearing and loving God. By nature we do not love God. This is original sin, the source whence our wickedness proceeds; and the carnal mind is enmity against God, for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be; so then they that are in the flesh cannot please God, Ro 8:5-9. Let us, without delay or reserve, come and cleave to our reconciled God in Jesus Christ, that we may love, serve, and obey him acceptably, and be daily changed into his image, from glory to glory, by the Spirit of the Lord. Consider the greatness and glory of God; and his goodness and grace; these persuade us to our duty. Blessed Spirit! Oh for thy purifying, persevering, and renewing influences, that being called out of the state of strangers, such as our fathers were, we may be found among the number of the children of God, and that our lot may be among the saints.

Let this day be the day of the Lord!
