Get focused...!

Joshua 5:13-15 NKJV

And it came to pass, when Joshua was by Jericho, that he lifted his eyes and looked, and behold, a Man stood opposite him with His sword drawn in His hand. And Joshua went to Him and said to Him, “ Are You for us or for our adversaries?” So He said, “No, but as Commander of the army of the Lord I have now come.” And Joshua fell on his face to the earth and worshiped, and said to Him, “What does my Lord say to His servant?” Then the Commander of the Lord ’s army said to Joshua, “Take your sandal off your foot, for the place where you stand is holy.” And Joshua did so.

Shalom! Day #128. Do you know that our attitude and perspective must change as we face the giants of our lives? Let's pray. Father, give us a determined spirit and a new perspective as we face the giants of our life. Give us eyes that would focused to You only and nothing else. In Jesus name we ask and pray, amen!

Have you ever wondered what was the first thing did Joshua saw when he came to Jericho? I will tell you, but hey have you ever wondered? What we see is important and our attitude at what we see is so much important. I give you one example, guys are carried away when they see a pretty, sexy and beautiful girl, well that's the fact. Many of us are carried away when we see the problems we face, the challenges we encounter and the situation we are. Our attitude begins to react according to what we see. Another example,  Job, when he was tested by the devil, Job saw what kind of situation he was, and his attitude towards it was different, he gave thanks to God and did not curse God or blame God what he was going through at that time. Our perspective and attitude is important as we face every challenges and situations of our lives because it shapes us to be who we are today.

So in today's verse we are going to learn something from Joshua.  The first thing Joshua saw at Jericho was the tall walls of Jericho.  At a glimpse his focus was diverted to the walls - his problems, his situations and his challenges. Now the wall was his problem. So here we will learn how God had to intervene and divert back Joshuas focus to God back. At that point Joshua forgets the promises of God to hom, I suppose. It says here , " that he lifted his eyes and looked, and behold, a Man stood opposite him with His sword drawn in His hand." After looking the walls of Jericho,  then suddenly his focus was diverted towards the Man standing there. Joshua lifted his eyes and he LOOKED. The way you look into every situations,  challenges and problems shows the outcome of what will happen to you. When we face problems,  challenges and tough situations, if we lose focus on God, it will be very hard for us to go through it.

When Joshua lifted his eyes and looked at the Man, he asked “ Are You for us or for our adversaries?” So He said, “No, but as Commander of the army of the Lord I have now come.” When Joshua regained his focused,  he bowed down to the ground and worshipped the Man. At that point, he asked the Lord what plan or the strategic they would be using against the enemy, but the Lord said to Joshua “Take your sandal off your foot, for the place where you stand is holy.” And Joshua did so. Those days sandals are a very important thing for a soldier,  because the soldier uses it to cover his feet from bruises, from any thorns and sharp stones as they walk through the forest, wilderness. Sometimes we think we can do everything according to our strength and abilities. Yet, whenever we try to do something, we fail because we rely upon our own understanding and our ways. Joshua relied upon his shoes for battle but the Lord asks him to remove it. The reason to remove is that he would put his total trust and focuses upon the Lord and not on his own abilities. The Lord is not anybody's side, it's either we are on His side or otherwise and when you are on His side,  you will see victory. So, it matters what you see and your attitude in what you see. See, attitude,  action.

Let this day be the day of the Lord!
