Lead with reverence unto God...!

I Kings 16:1-4, 7 NKJV

Then the word of the Lord came to Jehu the son of Hanani, against Baasha, saying: “Inasmuch as I lifted you out of the dust and made you ruler over My people Israel, and you have walked in the way of Jeroboam, and have made My people Israel sin, to provoke Me to anger with their sins, surely I will take away the posterity of Baasha and the posterity of his house, and I will make your house like the house of Jeroboam the son of Nebat. The dogs shall eat whoever belongs to Baasha and dies in the city, and the birds of the air shall eat whoever dies in the fields.” And also the word of the Lord came by the prophet Jehu the son of Hanani against Baasha and his house, because of all the evil that he did in the sight of the Lord in provoking Him to anger with the work of his hands, in being like the house of Jeroboam, and because he killed them.

Shalom! Day #164. Do you know that when God has entrusted His people to you as a leader over them and you lead them to commit sin, their blood is upon you and great is the judgement that's upon you? Let's pray. Father,  as we continue to lead and be responsible over the ministries as well as the congregation that You have entrusted to us, help us to lead with all reverence unto You and that we may not stray away from Your statutes and commandments and that we may not be the instrument that would cause Your people to stumble and fall. Forgive us for our carelessness. In Jesus name we ask and pray, Amen!

It is important that we evaluate the way we lead God's people so that we may not be a stumbling block to them. It's important that we check our ways first, to allow the Holy Spirit of God to search our hearts that there may not be sin in our lives. As a leader, we must be an example to the followers. As we imitate Christ, they should imitate and live a blameless life. If there's sin in the camp, then it will affect whole group of followers. If the leader ia not living a godly life, how can he or she expect the followers to live a godly life? Think about it. A leader is a person who walks the talk, not just talking and giving instructions, but doing it. Practice what you preach.

In today's verse we see how God was provoked to anger because of what Baasha did. He lead his people to sin. And then the word of the Lord came to Jehu the son of Hanani, against Baasha, saying: “Inasmuch as I lifted you out of the dust and made you ruler over My people Israel, and you have walked in the way of Jeroboam, and have made My people Israel sin, to provoke Me to anger with their sins, surely I will take away the posterity of Baasha and the posterity of his house, and I will make your house like the house of Jeroboam the son of Nebat. If we lead the people that God has entrusted to into living a life filled with sin, we as a leader are accountable for it because godly life begins from the leadership then to the followers.  Be an example to them. Lead he people of God in fear and reverence unto God.

Let this day be the day of the Lord!
