Pisteuo, Pistis, Nikao...

I John 5:4-5 NKJV

For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith. Who is he who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?

Shalom! Day #39. Do you know that you are an overcomers through the faith you have in Jesus? Let's pray. Father we thank you for this day. As we study Your word, Holy Spirit help us to realize the overcoming power that is at work in us. In Jesus name we ask and pray. Amen.

The Greek word for overcome is NIKAO which means "to overpower, to overcome, to be victorious, to conquer." It derived from the root word NIKE which means "victory." Now you know why the world known sports brand Nike is the number one choice. Our focus today is on this word NIKAO or Overcome. To overcome it means to defeat another person in a competition or in a conflict or It simply means to conquer. The bible says in Romans 8:37 "we are more than conquerors in Christ Jesus." Jesus conquered death and brought life and restored humanity. To be more than conquerors means, even before we get into the battlefield, we already won! Because God stood up for us and fought the battle for us. The faith we have In Jesus, is the key for an overcoming life. Faith in Greek word is PISTIS. PISTIS means belief, trust, confidence and fidelity. Faith is not just believing on something or someone, it also means having full confidence in them. For example, David was faithful to God and trusted wholeheartedly in him, but he felt the pressure of his problems as much as anyone. Instead of giving up or giving in, however, David held on to his faith. In times of despair, it is much harder to hold on than to give up. But if you give up on God, you give in to a life of despair. Be overcomers!

Your confession is important. If you believe and confess that Jesus is the son of God, the power of that confession works in you and through you. "Pisteuo" meaning to believe, or to have confidence in. The moment you confess and believed in Jesus as your Lord and Savior, at that very moment, His power overshadows you. From that moment you are being built on a very strong foundation. As you go through every events of life, your faith either grows or be shaken. If it grows, it means you are progressing and you have totally place your confidence in the Lord. If it is shaken, I'm sorry, I have to say that you are not growing and easily give up when problems comes. Your faith enables you to overcome the world through Christ Jesus. Overcomers don't quit easily, because their faith is rooted deeply in Him who enables them to win! PISTEUO, PISTIS, NIKAO!

Let this day be the day of the Lord!
