Fear the Lord and be delivered...!

II Kings 17:36-39 NKJV

but the Lord , who brought you up from the land of Egypt with great power and an outstretched arm, Him you shall fear, Him you shall worship, and to Him you shall offer sacrifice. And the statutes, the ordinances, the law, and the commandment which He wrote for you, you shall be careful to observe forever; you shall not fear other gods. And the covenant that I have made with you, you shall not forget, nor shall you fear other gods. But the Lord your God you shall fear; and He will deliver you from the hand of all your enemies.”

Shalom! Day #123. Do you know that if you have followed the Lord wholeheartedly, you must fear the Lord as well? Let's pray. Father, forgive us for not respecting and honoring Your word and Your precepts. In Jesus name we pray, amen!

FEAR. This fear is not the kind of fear when you "see" a ghost or being chased by a dog or jumped over your chairs when you see a rat or cockroach. This fear is reverence and respect to God and another is fear of judgement for the sins we have committed or about to commit. We always misunderstood the concept of "fearing God." Fear in Hebrew word is YARE' which means to fear, to be afraid, to stand in awe, honor, respect. We stand in astonishment when the Lord brought us out from the darkness into His marvellous light. We respect and revere Him. If we say we fear God it means we must obey His word and His precepts. Whenever we think of doing something wrong, the fear of God will warn us of the consequences.

Respect and reverence towards God is the beginning of wisdom, I paraphrase it. The only way for God to deliver us from our enemies is that we acknowledge His great power, worship Him in respect, obey His laws and precepts, not bowing to other "gods", observe and do His commandments clearly.

Let this day be the day of the Lord!
